Martha Stewart I Am Not

I don’t cook very often.  When I do cook, I usually burn or otherwise harm the food.  So when I actually make a Luscious Four-Layer Pumpkin Cake that resembles the picture from the magazine and tastes delicious for my dad’s birthday, I like to document it with a picture:

  • that cake looks really tasty! 4 layers? impressive.

  • It was four layers of tasty pumpkin goodness. I rarely compliment my own cooking/baking, so believe me that it was good.

  • As a fellow “non-Martha,” I am super impressed!! I’m not sure I could tackle that one. It looks amazing. I’m sure it would pair wonderfully with my cinnamon dolce latte from Starbucks. It’s probably a good thing I can only see a picture… ;)

  • Here is yet another non-Martha but I can say that picture looks beautiful! I have a picture of a half ate cheesecake that I made in my picture archives maybe I need to post it on my blog today.

  • Maybe all of the non-Marthas out there should post pictures of their (few and far between) baking victories! It would be a good thing :-)

  • I just pulled a recipe out of the craft book I love too! They seem to be putting so good stuff in lately! You dessert looks yummy!

  • I’m definitely not a Martha – I’m barely a Betty Crocker! Though I did make fudge for the first time about a month ago and the second attempt was perfect!! The first attempt, well it resembled dirt in a pan. Pics are posted on my site and flickr so I have proof that eventually it turned out well.

  • Hey I posted a picture of my partially eaten cheesecake.

  • Lululeelee- I really enjoy the Kraft magazines. I made some kind of a quick chicken cheese enchilada from an older issue, and it was quite edible.

Bluesuit- I’ve never even attempted fudge! I will take a gander at your triumph.

Biblio- Can’t believe you caught the picture before it was just crumbs…yummy! Thanks for posting.

  • That cake looks really delicious! It’s probably 1000 calories per bite. It’s hard having a sweet tooth.

  • I think the recipe gives the calorie breakdown, but I prefer to eat cake without such knowledge. After all, my dad’s birthday only comes once a year!

  • I’ve always been a firm believer that the yumminess factor is in direct relation with the amount of calories in a particular food anyway. I want some cake!

  • I DO cook and am quite impressed. It’s the Weight Watcher’s version though. I can tell by looking at it. ;-)

  • I hate you, I hate you, I hate you…

That looks so good, I want to dive my face in it.

  • Jeremy- I can still remember my agriculture (I have no idea why I took agriculure) professor in college saying, “Fat and flavor go hand in hand.” So true, so true.

Wilson- Um….sure. If you look at the recipe link, you can just assume I substituted applesauce for every fattening ingredient.

Eileen- Don’t worry, if you look at my next blog…you’ll lose your appetite….forever.

  • This cake looks amazing….I am drooling as I write this….:)
You make me want to not just take a break from my diet, but skid right off of it completely and dive into a huge slice of that!

  • “Do it,” says the little devil on your shoulder.
